Epiphanius Ancoratus 2

I have nothing but enormous admiration towards our Lord and God in the way He manages His household and in His infinite goodness gives His Holy Spirit to those who seek Him and are brought into true life.  For it was the inspiration of God who gave me the impression of your requests written to me from you and I have made up my mind this has come from the grace of God you have in you. For the truth is, this is something we  know together and we can hear what Peter says in the same manner: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God, and we will surely be blessed by the Lord Himself. It is clear this holy one was blessed, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, which is, “Son of Jonah” because his father was called Jonah and “bar” is translated from Hebrew as “son”. This is how the Only-Begotten Son of God gave life to his disciples saying, that they may have life (Jn. 10.10; cf John 3.15: will in Him have eternal life). So when He said, the only True God, He took us towards the One God who is very unique. Which means our way of thinking no longer has to be bound by this world nor the gods they serve and who have their minds dissipated with sexual immorality. No, we change to the one true and unique God, For the devising of idols was the beginning of spiritual fornication (Wisd. 14.12) as it says in Scripture. And also when He says and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Who is Jesus Christ but true God? Of course, I say Jesus Christ is God of which John testifies: the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him (Jn. 1.18). At the same time, God is Father and the One and only True God but not in the manner of the false gods of which the Gentile gods are. The One and Only-Begotten is the the Truth, the One and only is also True God and also the One and only Holy Spirit; the Trinity in unity, one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
